Cutting Perfect Tags

Hi there, SP fans, Michelle here with you today!  I've made a cute, little tag to share with you today and along with it I am going to show you a really quick and easy way to cut perfect tags.

For this tag, I used the Father's Day Fun and the Mix n Match Kids stamp sets.  The hat was stamped in black ink on my tag, and then I paper pieced it with some cool patterned papers.  The striped paper is from Lost & Found 2 Collection - Blush (My Mind's Eye), and unfortunately I am unsure where I got the red dots paper that I used for the trim on the hat and the strip across the middle.

I stamped "For My" in black ink, and Darling in red ink, slightly overlapping them, which gives it a neat look.  Around the middle I tied some of the Licorice Divine Twine, and topped it off with some black ribbon tied in a knot.  Here is a closer shot, so you can see the way the lettering overlaps.

Now on to cutting those tags.  You've probably seen that you can buy packs of plain tags, or even die cuts that will cut them for you, but you really don't need any of that.  Just start with a piece of paper cut to the size you want for your tag.  Trim one of the corners at the angle you want it, like in the picture below.

After you have done that, take the corner you cut and flip it over to the opposite side, matching it up to the uncut corner, like this...

Holding it in place, just cut with your scissors, following the edge of the piece you are holding in place.  Voila!  You will now have two, perfectly matched sides!

Thanks for stopping by,

Michelle
