DIY sliding pull-tab card

Hello! Amber here today to show you how to create your own pull-tab style card. I was inspired by this book that my 23-month-old loves to read. It has these pull apart pages that I think are so cute!

One night while reading it I thought it would be fun to add as an interactive element on a card! And then when I got the Mustache Madness set I thought it would be perfect for the hidden message.

Here's the card I came up with:

I just love that "I mustache you a question" and can't stop saying it!!! I'm driving my hubby crazy really.

I created my card base by adhering some EP Dots & Stripes in grey dots, which was part of the January SP Monthly Kit, and made a panel from MME Miss Caroline Dolled Up using the yellow woodgrain paper. And for the pull tab I cut a strip of white cardstock that had tabs at one end to stop it from coming all the way out and then stamped the question on it.

To keep the tab from coming all the way out I made a sort of dam by adhering a double thick strip of cardstock on the right side:

Then I laid the pull tab over it and marked where it would lay and used my craft knife to cut out a channel where the tab would slide

See how the tab fits right in there now? I thought this would help it slide better and not add any extra thickness to the card.

I applied adhesive to the top, bottom, and left side of the yellow woodgrain panel. Don't put any on the right side because you don't want it to touch the tab. Instead apply the adhesive to the gray background covering the white dam but not getting the sliding channel. Put the tab in place and then adhere the yellow panel on top.

And now you have your own interactive pull-tab card! I can't wait to make more of these!!
Oh, and I added the arrow to the tab just in case the recipient didn't realize it was meant to be pulled.
