Greeting, fans of SP Stamps! This is CG, with a simple project featuring the Christmas Emma and Stitchery Doo stamp sets.
There you have it! Relatively simple, but just enough work to be fun to make!

Just think of the possibilities with this simple banner! You could hang it from your tree (in my case, the bushy pine in our backyard!):
Or you can hang it on your staircase and let the family enjoy it:
My husband has already suggested ideas for other similar banners, and you know that I'm going to have to use the Christmas Emma stamp to portray my little guys, so I'm planning on make several banners with the same stamp sets.

SP & Company Stamps are some of my favorites to use for technique-specific projects, like this simple, embossed banner:
One of my favorite techniques of all time is heat-embossing, and I love using the Stitchery Doo set to create faux, risen stitches. I don't sew much, but I really like the look, and I find that mixing stamped stitches with textured paper is an easy way to get it!
Here's what I did:
- Stitchery Doo set: Cross Stitch stamp, for border
- Christmas Emma set: Large Candy Canes & Happy Holidays sentiment
- Textured cardstock, for a fabric look; this project takes less than one 12x12 piece
- Banner template: 4x4 piece of cardstock, notched an inch (see photo below)
- Cut 6 pieces, 3 fronts and 3 backs (it's up to you whether or not to decorate the backs!)
- Miscellaneous tools:
- Stamp block with guide lines to ensure equal margins when stamping
- Static-resistant "embossing buddy": Use a heavy coat on the textured cardstock before embossing
- Heat tool
- Nail buffer (or sandpaper) to slightly roughen the edges of the banner (optional!)
- Adhesives: double-sided tape to adhere the ribbon, and silicon glue to put the front & backs together
- 1.5 inch-wide Ribbons: Two 4-inch strips of ribbon, folded in half, for each banner; Silk ribbon to string the banner, as silk ties very well
- Ink pads: Watermark/clear embossing ink, Black for Candy Cane outline, Gold for "Happy Holidays sentiment, because my gold embossing powder is transparent plus glitter
- I was able to stamp the stitched borders and emboss the whole thing in one step
- Embossing powders: Red, White, Gold, Silver
- Watermark ink pen to fill in Candy Candy with embossing powders
- I recommend doing this in two parts for each color; the watermark pen ink seems to dry quicker than the pad's, so you want to work fast.
- Gold pen to outline the Candy Cane stamp after embossing
